Premier - This grade requires a high level of skill, fitness and commitment. These grades attract the top players in the Wellington area who have representative experience, top college players or premier players from other regions. These games run 15 minute quarters. Teams train twice a week.
Premier Reserve - This grade requires a consistent level of skill, fitness and commitment. These grades attract players who have played top level through school and in premier competitions previously. These games run 10 minute quarters.
Senior A - This grade is the middle grade between premier and social and is still very competitive. These grades attract players who are committed, skilful and want to make friends through a competitive environment. These games run 10 minute quarters.
Senior B/Social - This grade is the least competitive and more for players who are wanting a less serious and more fun experience with Team Vic. Players in this grade play consecutive years with the same team and normally training is up to the discretion of the coach and/or players. This grade is a great way to meet new people or commit to playing consecutive years with friends.
Our fees are based on what Netball Wellington Centre (NWC) and Netball New Zealand charges to participate in the competition. We are a volunteer, not-for-profit based club.
The following outlines the total fees for 2023 for students and non-students of Victoria University, Wellington (VUW). There are two options for fees payment, either 1) payment of fees in full or 2) signing up to the payment plan.
The majority of your fees go to Netball Wellington, this ranges from $189 to $220 per player (depending on the size and grade of the team).
$35 of your fees are refunded to you at the end of the season when you return your dress.The remainder of your fees go towards costs such as social events, administration and umpire training.
As we are a university club - Victoria University provides a small grant for NWC fees each year to subsidise the cost for student members. This reduces the amount we charge for VUW students. Note this is not guaranteed each year and amounts vary.

Coaching a team will make you a better player. Selectors are favourable to those who have also volunteered to coach a team. Full training is provided to coaches and you may coach with a buddy to share the experience.
Trials will be held in March during the day on weekends and evenings during the week. These are held at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Kilbirnie.
You must attend at least two trials and grading day.
If you have missed trials we may still have places on our social teams.

All teams wear our Team Vic dresses. These are hired from the club for the season at a cost of $60 (which is included in your total fees). This amount includes a $35 bond which will be refunded at the end of the season when the dress is returned.
Your team manager and/or coach will give you your dress at the start of the season. Team Vic will allocate a dress to you based on the information you provide in the registration form. Therefore, please read the instructions in the registration form carefully. We will do our best to give you the size you requested.
If for any reason you need an alternative size, please send an email to the Gear and Facilities managers: teamvicfacilities@gmail.com and we will do our best to find you the right dress.
Games are played on Saturdays at the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre, Kemp St, Kilbirnie. Games are 4 x 15 minute quarters for Premier teams, and 4 x 10 minute quarters for Premier Reserve and Senior grade teams. Game times will vary throughout the season - the first round is at 9am and the last is at 4pm.

It is not required to attend every event, we understand that you have other commitments, but we do hope that you come along as much as possible to get to know the wider club.
Members need to participate in fundraising so the club can function. Without fundraising we wouldnt have the gear or facilities for you to participate fully in the season.
Trainings are held at the Salamanca Road Courts, Kelburn, near the University. Training times will be agreed with your coach at the start of the season. You will be expected to attend 1 or 2 trainings a week, depending on the level you are playing.
Trainings for Vic 1 - 4 are usually set in advance of season and will be published before trials. This is because there are limited venues to train at. These trainings are held at the Recreation Centre or the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre.
Games are played throughout the University holidays. It is expected that you will play the majority of your games. Absences will need to be agreed in advance with your coach so there isn’t an unfair strain put on your team. The season runs from 29 April until 26 August. If you are booking time to go home in advance, we suggest you book so you only miss one of the two weekends during the Uni Holidays. Let your parents know the season also so they can visit you to watch!
There are no games on King's Birthday weekend (3 June) and Matariki weekend (15 July).
We accept self-entered teams if the majority of the players in the team played for Team Vic the previous season. Self-entered teams must be approved by the Committee. Self entered teams need to be registered by 28 February 2024 so we can assess our numbers before trials.
Please make sure you indicate when you register that you are entering with a self entered team and to list all your team mates. Self-entered teams will still be required to trial. It is preferred if self-entered teams provide their own coach or team manager (who will be entitled to access the same support and development opportunities as Team Vic appointed coaches).

At Team Vic, we accept players who want to play the season with a friend. It is important that you and your friend both indicate on your individual registration forms that you want to play in the same team. The team you are placed in will be determined by the lower ranking of the two of you. For example, if one of you is ranked at Vic 11 but the other is ranked at Vic 12, you will both be placed in Vic 12.
We note that this is assessed on a case by case basis and depends on position availability, grading and team size.
Players who are 16 years of age or under as at the 1st of April 2024, must advise Team Vic (email teamvicnetball@gmail.com ) at the time of submitting their registration. Team Vic encourages school age players to play netball for their school, but recognises that there are circumstances when this is not possible and school age players will be allowed to represent Team Vic, with prior approval from the Committee and the school (where relevant).
